Our Philosophy and Structure:
Lacrosse is an extremely rewarding and unique game. Not only does it have the highest odds of competing at the collegiate level, it is a game that requires all attributes of many different sports. At CT City Lacrosse, our main focus is skill development, game IQ, with other options such as local teams with less of a full time summer commitment. We focus on player development from small sided drills, to team concepts and beyond. Our goal is for each player to leave our sessions having enjoyed their time on the field and improved in some way. Our staff has a passion for the game of lacrosse and we certainly pass that on to our players and those who train with us.
Structure:
At each clinic, regardless of skill level, we tailor instruction to each player. Players in mixed ability groups are eventually split by age and/or skill. Upon beginning our sessions, we evaluate players athleticism, stick-work, and gameplay to help place them in the proper groupings. We even move players around as the sessions progress if necessary. We mix whole group instruction, with small group stations, and even 1:1 coaching when we see players who need some extra attention.
The Club world of lacrosse has gotten away from teaching fundamentals, enjoyment of the sport, and game IQ. Many club teams put players together on an A,B,or C team and focus much of the energy on only their top teams. Our focus, is to develop the overall athlete through each season "series". A series is a compiled group of clinics in the fall, winter, and summer that enhance players IQ and truly develop skills and fundamental pieces of the game; which are commonly overlooked at the "Club Team Level"
Our "Team Option Deatils"
Some of you may have seen us at a tournament in the summer. Whether it be boys or girls. We operate a few travel teams for players who are not full time club players and they vary each season depending on interest level. We usually hand select our participants based on coaches recommendations and evaluation at our year round clinics. Players who are a part of our IQ and skills clinics can also be a part of our competitive and developmental teams to compete in tournaments in the Northeast. No overnights, 6 practices and 2 tournaments with recruiting support. Cost is usually between $700 - $900 respectively.
Staff:
Our staff has a wide variety of collegiate players, varsity coaches, and former players from NCAA Division 1,2 and 3 level. Each staff member has an extensive lacrosse background and brings energy to our clinic series.
